Portes du Soleil Ski Guide
Spread across France and Switzerland, Portes du Soleil translates to 'Doors\Gates of the Sun'. Linked by the Corbeau draglift in 1964 the resort has grown from strength to strength making one of the largest ski areas in Europe. Portes du Soleil is best described as an alliance between the two countries providing everything needed for beginner and advanced skiers.
The area is comprised of lots of small interlinked resorts which vary considerably in what they offer. With some research you can find the resort which will compliment your skiing abilities.

Steeped in tradition and authentic architecture the old town of Morzine is not what you would expect to find in most alpine resorts. Learn about the way of life, traditions and history of Morzine from one of the official guides, tours depart from the church every Thursday at 10am in season.
A co-op of local dairy farmers operate in this area producing cheeses such as Tomme, Reblochon and Abondance. Twice weekly (Wednesday and Thursday at 9am) the cheese dairy and maturing cellars are open to the public to learn and participate in the making of cheese free of charge. The village has positioned itself as an activities centre of the region with a range of activities to keep old and young amused all day. Les Gets has it all from extensive mountain bike and golf courses to a fully fledged adventure park with bungee jumping. When it is finally time to relax perhaps browse the market on Thursdays, play a round of mini golf or visit the renowned mechanical music museum.

One of the gems in this area is The Defago Rock Gallery which provides outstanding panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The gallery, approximately 600 metres long, has been carved out of rock and provides superb views of Champery when it is lit daily by the sun. Best viewed in the mornings the walk will take you around 2 hours, just remember to take your camera.
