Espace San Bernardo Ski Guide

Situated between the borders on France and Italy in the Savoie (73) in the Rhone-Alpes is Espace San Bernardo a popular resort for family holidays and extreme sports. Day tripping between the two countries is made simple via the cable cars onto and over the fantastic mountain range. Exhilarating views of the countryside make the journey a must for all who stay in the area.

Offering over 70 ski runs, 1 ski jump and 1 snow park, the Espace San Bernardo area will satisfy all your winter sports requirements.

Apres Ski

Espace San Bernardo caters mainly for families with plenty of on and off snow activities to keep everyone happy. Creches are available on each side of the border usually accepting children aged 16 months or more.

With over 15 bars and 20 restaurants you will be able to wind down in the evenings and prepare yourself for the next ski down the mountain. There is one nightclub in La Rosiere for those wanting to party late into the night, you will not find the hectic nightlife of resorts like Chamonix however.

Whichever resort you choose you will find superb scenery and authentic alpine charm in both valleys. It's certainly a welcome departure from the modern resorts which have become popular in recent years.

Espace San Bernardo's biggest failing is its transport links, which is perhaps why these resorts are generally 'off the radar' for holiday makers in the UK. The closest airports (Lyons and Geneva) are around 3 hours travel by car, and the nearest train station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice. There are many long distance taxi firms who have setup to fill this transport gap and we would suggest booking in advance to avoid long waits at the airport or train station.

  • Lyons, 230kms, 2h50 by car
  • Geneva, 180kms, 3hrs by car

Nearest Train Station: Bourg-Saint-Maurice
